Drug Treatment Alternative to Prison (DTAP)

DTAP is an alternative to incarceration program offered by the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office in partnership with Rockland TASC, that specifically focuses on the treatment of chemically dependent felony offenders. The program goal is to divert those with extensive substance misuse histories and related criminal charges, into rigorous community-based residential treatment programs for an extended period in lieu of incarceration.

DTAP participants are closely monitored by highly structed treatment facilities, the Court and Rockland TASC staff to ensure compliance with program requirements as to reduce recidivism, provide a therapeutic community for participants to focus on recovery and allow the participants the opportunity for a productive and successful reintegration.

DTAP eligibility and sentencing agreements are determined by the District Attorney’s Office and Rockland TASC.
