HAVERSTRAW MAN CONVICTED ON ALL SEXUAL ABUSE CHARGES AFTER TRIAL
Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announced today that Julio Rodriguez-Rodirguez, 47 of Haverstraw, New York was found guilty on one count of Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the Second Degree (Class D Felony), two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Class A Misdemeanor), and one count of Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree (Class B Misdemeanor) after a bench trial was conducted in front of the Honorable Sherri Eisenpress. The trial commenced on July 1, 2024, and concluded on July 9, 2024.
Starting in December of 2019 and throughout the course of the next two years, the defendant engaged in multiple acts of sexual conduct with a female child less than 13 years old. Furthermore, on July 23, 2023, the defendant engaged in one last act of sexual conduct with the same victim who was 14 years old. The sexual conduct that the defendant was found guilty of consisted of touching the female child’s intimate body parts.
District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II said, “The egregious actions of the defendant in this case took away the innocence of a 14-year-old girl. My Office is committed to protecting all children from sexual predators. I commend the Haverstraw Police Department who worked closely with the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office Special Victims Unit to ensure the defendant was held fully accountable for his actions. “
The investigation was initiated by the Haverstraw Police Department, with the assistance of the Rockland County District Attorney's Office Special Victims Unit.
Sentencing on this matter has been scheduled for October 1, 2024. The defendant faces a maximum state prison sentence of seven years for the top count, and he will have to register as a sex offender.
The case was prosecuted by Supervising Assistant District Attorney Gerard M. Damiani III and Senior Assistant District Attorney Joseph Santangelo.
