NEW JERSEY MAN ARRAIGNED ON FELONY CHARGES FOR FILING FALSE BANK STATEMENT WITH ROCKLAND COUNTY COURT
Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announced today that James Wolff 50 of Teaneck, New Jersey was arraigned before Judge Pollock in the Town of Clarkstown Justice Court on September 30, 2024 on one count of Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the First Degree (E Felony) and Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree (D Felony) following an investigation by the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office Special Investigations Unit.
In June of 2024, an investigation was conducted by the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office Special Investigations Unit after the defendant knowingly possessed and submitted falsified bank statements to the Rockland County Surrogate’s Court and testified, under oath, to their validity. The documents filed by the defendant with the Rockland County Surrogate Court were falsely made and altered and submitted, with the intent to deceive the Court.
District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II said, “As alleged, the defendant filed false bank statements with the court. Trying to deceive the court is a serious offense and has consequences. I commend the investigation by the Rockland County DA Special Investigations Unit and thank our law enforcement partners who assisted with the case."
The case was investigated by the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office Special Investigations Unit with the assistance from the Clarkstown Police Department.
Executive District Attorney Michael Dugandzic and Assistant District Attorney Katherine Crispi are prosecuting the case.
It should be noted that a criminal complaint is merely an accusation, and an individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
