FORMER ROCKLAND CORRECTIONS OFFICER SENTENCED ON FELONY AND MISDEMEANOR CHARGE
Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announced today that former Rockland Corrections Officer John Kezek, 39 of Knoxville, Tennessee, formerly of Florida, NY was sentenced with respect to his plea of guilty to Tampering with Public Records in the First Degree and Official Misconduct on December 19, 2024 before the Honorable Robert J. Prisco.
As part of his plea of guilty, Kezek admitted to making false entries to the records maintained by the Rockland County Correctional Facility and to exposing himself to a female inmate housed at the facility while working in his capacity as a Correctional Officer with the Rockland County Sheriff's Office during the 2019 calendar year.
District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II said, “As a Corrections Officer, the defendant, John Kezek, was given the trust and authority to protect all prisoners in the jail. The courage of these incarcerated women who came forward to report this sexual harassment cannot be understated. The mistreatment of prisoners will not be tolerated in Rockland County.
I want to reiterate to the residents of Rockland that the men and women of the Rockland County Corrections Division are true professionals. The actions of this individual, John Kezek, in no way reflects the values and dedication shown everyday by those officers.”
This investigation was conducted by the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office Special Investigations Unit and Special Victims Unit.
As part of his sentence, the defendant will serve a period of five years probation with drug and alcohol conditions. An order of protection was issued in favor of the victim in this case who was housed in the jail at the time of these incidents.
First Assistant District Attorney Kathleen Devlin prosecuted the case.
