Mount Kisco Democratic Committee Chair & Son Indicted for Campaign Related Forgery
Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announced today that following an investigation by the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office into forged primary election petitions in Mount Kisco, located in Westchester County, New York, William Serratore, 59 of Mount Kisco, New York and Carmelo Serratore, 24 of Mount Kisco, New York, have been indicted and arrested on forgery related charges.
On or about March 6, 2023, to April 7, 2023, William Serratore, the Mount Kisco Democratic Committee Chair, is accused of forging and attesting to forged signatures on three (3) separate petitions for Tom Luzio’s Mayoral candidacy and filing the same with the Westchester County Board of Elections. On or about April 2, 2023, Carmelo Serratore is accused of forging and attesting to forged signatures on one (1) petition for the Mount Kisco Mayor which were subsequently filed with the Westchester County Board of Elections. William is the father of Carmelo Serratore.
William Serratore is charged with fifteen felony counts, including Forgery in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree, and Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the First Degree.
Carmelo Serratore was charged with four felony counts including Forgery in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree.
Both defendants were arraigned on September 13, 2023 before the Honorable Robert A. Neary. The Rockland County District Attorney’s office acting in a Special Prosecutorial capacity conducted the investigation. Senior Assistant District Attorney Rebecca McGee is assigned to the case.
It should be noted that a criminal complaint is merely an accusation and that defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
